Hagerstown, MD April 8, 2006 — The Washington County Rural Heritage Museum is pleased to announce the addition of a new website, www.ruralheritagemuseum.org. The new web site includes the museum’s event and exhibit schedule, and news of interest.
Located at the Agricultural Education Center in Boonsboro, Maryland, the Rural Heritage Museum features more than 2,500 artifacts, interactive exhibits, and activities focusing on Washington County’s rural and agricultural history.
“Farms have always been quick to adopt new technologies, and some of the earliest telephone systems were built in rural communities,” said Leslie Hendrickson, Director of the Rural Heritage Museum. “We think that the Internet and the new website fit well with our history and our continuing mission of community outreach and education.”
Now that spring is here, the Rural Heritage Museum invites you to shake that cabin-fever, get outdoors, and visit them at the Agricultural Center. What about April showers? The museum’s 7,200 square foot indoor facility offers plenty to see and do, including an old-fashioned country store exhibit, an early transportation exhibit featuring buggies, wagons, and sleighs − even a covered Conestoga wagon, and much more.
The museum is open weekends from April through mid-December, 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and available for group and school tours by appointment
The Rural Heritage Museum gratefully acknowledges the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau for its support and sponsorship for making the new website possible.
