May 22, 2006 — Home of Virginia beach based recording artists J. Frost, Moe, 20 Nickelz, Kno Luv, Maniac, Quick, Uncle Dex and newly signed fresh from yard Smiles announces it will be changing the record labels name from Alumni Records LLC to Commonwealth State of Mind. CEO Antonio Simmons as well as President Anthony Williams came to a mutual agreement sometime in the later parts of 2005 that it would beneficial to the artists on the label as well as the staff to go along with the change.
The new name change exemplifies the movement that we are trying to proceed with at this time as a corporate company and in the music business. The name not only represents the entire state of Virginia and every commonwealth state such as home of J. Frost South Carolina but it’s about the music, a way of living, and the day to day mind state of half the population.
With the first hand of business out of the way the label is gearing up for it’s first mixtape release Ground Work Vol. 1. So be on the lookout for new music and videos from your favorite Virginia artists. The streets are already buzzing around tracks from the 20 Nickelz mixtape Rise To Power.
