“anything arts” Already A Sarasota Success Story
The new e-publication, “anything arts”, focuses on everything art-related in the Sarasota-Manatee county area.
Sarasota, FL — A couple of young entrepreneurs in Sarasota brought the Gulf Coast’s affinity for the arts into the digital world on September 8, 2005 – that was the date of the first issue of “anything arts”.
“anything arts” is an e-newsletter that focuses on anything and everything in the Sarasota-Manatee county area related to the arts and the creative professionals who are such an integral part of the “Cultural Coast.” “anything arts” is delivered to readers’ e-mail inboxes every other Thursday – with an occasional interim issue to promote special events. Written and created by Christine Alexander and Rick Hughes, who have been part of the local arts community for a combined total of more than 12 years, each issue of “anything arts” is loaded with information, including the kind of information that only arts “insiders” like Christine and Rick hear. The sleek newsletter, designed by Elsie Gilmore of Elle Productions, also contains colorful photos, a little humor, and links to relevant Web sites and advertisers.
The Sept. 8 issue went to 750 in-boxes; the most recent issue, dated Dec. 29, went to about 2,500 readers who have already heard about the newsletter and have requested a free subscription. And the numbers keep on growing.
“This is really a labor of love for us,” says Rick. “Creatives are drawn to this area, and there are a lot of exciting projects underway all over the Gulf Coast. There was a clear need for a contemporary way to share arts-related news and information throughout the community, and the popularity of the S2 Report for business news inspired us to extend that concept into the arts community. Our rapid growth and flood of kudos and requests prove that this community was hungry for anything arts.”
Rick and Christine have plans in the works to expand and extend the “anything arts” site and concept.
