Award Winning Author and Playwright Tonya Blount Lands Talk Show; The Tonya Blount Show, a 30 Minute Weekly Segment Will Air on FOX 35

Richmond, VA May 13, 2006 — Tonya Blount, author of the runaway best-selling novel and hit stage play, Leaving the Wilderness will host The Tonya Blount Show. The show will premiere Thursday night, June 22.
Tonya Blount will bring television viewers a weekly telecast with interviews conducted in a comfortable and unique setting, focusing on key beliefs and events affecting today’s women ages 18-54. Some of the show’s opening line ups are: Hip Hop Artist Busta Rhymes, R& B Singer, Shannice Wilson, Tony Award Winner Melba Moore, and Indira Khan (Chaka Khan’s daughter). Bestselling authors: Victoria Christopher Murray (Temptation), LaJoyce Brookshire (Soul Food), Brenda Browder (On the Up and Up), popular urban author and publisher, Vickie Stringer, and Pastor Mark Vereen (H.O.P.E. Ministries, Richmond).
The show will also feature Fashion News. Misa Brim-Hylton, celebrity stylist to Kimora Lee Simmons will showcase the hottest fashion trends, fashion Do’s and Dont’s, and will select a winner from the viewing audience for a makeover. Journalist Rob Sauthoff will be special correspondent for the show, offering behind the scene celebrity interviews from red carpet events, as well as, covering the latest entertainment news reporting from New York City.
In addition to her emotional and inspirational novels, Tonya Blount is widely known as a tireless advocate for domestic violence. The show is still negotiating title sponsors and will reach a half million households on Fox 35 Richmond. Markets in DC, Maryland, and New York are currently in negotiation.
