Award-winning Louisiana Storyteller Releases New Kids CD Remixed with Rhythm, Rhyme and Rap
Louisiana Author and Storyteller releases new children’s storytelling audio remixed with rhythm, rhyme, and rap.
Stafford, TX May 29, 2006 — Author and Award-Winning Louisiana Storyteller Dianne de Las Casas releases a new CD, Jump, Jiggle & Jam ~ A Rhythmic Romp Through Story Land. Familiar favorite folktales such as The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Little Red Hen, Goldie Locks, and The Three Little Pigs are remixed with rhythm, rhyme and rap. De Las Casas says, “I love giving old tales a modern twist. Kids enjoy stories with a hip edge. Most of all, I have a blast sharing these stories.”
It hasn’t been an easy year for de Las Casas, who is a Katrina survivor. After months of living in Houston, Texas and being separated from her family, she is ready to return home to New Orleans. “I have been living in Houston with our two girls and my husband has been in New Orleans, rebuilding our home and working. My parents and in-laws also returned home so the girls and I really miss our family. I am excited about moving back in July and of course, we pray for a gentle hurricane season! It’s been a challenging time but there have been many rainbows after the storm.”
One of the rainbows is the Jump, Jiggle & Jam CD. De Las Casas says, “I am excited about Jump, Jiggle & Jam. It’s been one of my most popular programs. Multi-award winning children’s music producer, James Coffey of Blue Vision Music, co-produced the CD. The music and the sound effects add a rich texture to the stories. Kids are already giving it rave reviews so I know we’ve hit the mark.” De Las Casas laughs, “It really just gives me another excuse to become a kid again.”
Touring internationally as an author, storyteller and workshop presenter, Dianne de Las Casas sizzles on stage with “traditional folklore gone fun!” Audiences sing, clap, dance, chant, and roar with laughter. Her debut CD, Jambalaya ~ Stories with Louisiana Flavor, won a 2004 iParenting Media Award, 2004 Children’s Music Web Award, and 2005 Storytelling World Honor. Her second CD, World Fiesta, won a 2005 Children’s Music Web Award and received rave reviews in ALA Booklist and School Library Journal. De Las Casas is a Louisiana State Roster Artist, a Louisiana Touring Directory Artist, and a Mississippi Arts Demonstration Roster Artist. Her books include The Story Biz Handbook, Story Fest: Crafting Story Theater Scripts, Kamishibai Story Theater: The Art of Picture Telling, and Handmade Tales: Stories to Make and Take.
De Las Casas spent her childhood living and traveling world wide. She lived in the Philippines, Hawaii, Spain, and California, and traveled across Europe and the United States. Some of De Las Casas’ real life adventures include living in a nipa hut in the Philippines; paying homage to the living lava at the Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii; collecting sharks teeth on the southern coast of Spain; exploring the volcanic ruins of Pompeii, Italy; and basking in the Mediterranean sun on the shores of Portugal. Drawing from her dramatic childhood life overseas, De Las Casas’ storytelling is a safari into the depths of the imagination where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
