Ballet Tech Ohio Performing Arts Association Hosts 5th Annual Gala of International Ballet Stars
Fifth Annual Gala of International Ballet Stars. The best dancers, the best companies and the best choreography. 18 Fabulous Dancers. 10 World Renowned Companies. 11 Countries and 4 Continents. Need we say more? For the fifth year in a row, the moon and stars will align for one night only for a fantastic display of talent, grace, athleticism and pure dance power. Don’t miss the Global Fare pre-show event with international cuisine and live jazz.
Cincinnati, OH June 29, 2006 — On August 12, 2006 at 8PM the Fifth Annual Gala of International Ballet Stars featuring the best dancers, best choreography, best companies, will be, as always, a triumphant season finale, with some of the most amazing international stars producing headlines such as “Sizzling performers wow Aronoff crowd,” Cincinnati Enquirer. This year’s cast of 18 fabulous dancers from 10 world renowned companies represents 11 Countries spanning 4 continents. The only International Dance Gala in the Midwest and one of a few in the entire nation, each year the Gala of International Ballet Stars brings audiences to their feet with rousing standing ovations and comments like, “The performance was absolutely AWESOME” and ”the most outstanding local dance performance that I’ve ever seen.”
This year the cast includes:
Alejandro Alvarez and Stephanie Dalphond, National Dance Company of Spain dancing “Cor Perdut” and a duet from “Herrumbre”, both by Nacho Duato
Anton Korsakov and Olesia Novikova , stars of the historic Kirov Ballet performing the Pas de Deux from “La Sylphide” and Pas d’Esclave from “Le Corsaire”
Kellye Saunders and James Washington, Dance Theatre of Harlem in Glen Tetley‘s “Adagissimo” from Dialogues III Movement and “Doina Pas de Deux ” by Royston Maldoom
Caroline Queiroz, Teatro Argentino de La Plata and partner Vladislav Koltsov, Teatro Colon will dance a pas de deux from “Diana and Acteon” and “Valses y Copas” (Waltz and Glasses) by Leonardo Reale, music by Offenback
Michele Jimenez and John Michael Schert, Trey McIntyre Project performing pas de deux from McIntyre’s “The Reassuring Effects of Form and Poetry” (Dvorak) and pas de deux from “Like a Samba” (Astrud Gilberto)
Marie Lindqvist and Jan-Erik Wikström, Stockholm 59° North Soloists of The Royal Swedish Ballet will dance “By the Painless Arrow of Artemis” choreography by Virpi Pakhinen to tribal percussive music of Rodger Ludvigsen and the “Nutcracker” Pas de deux
Yang Zou and Haiyan Wu, Miami City Ballet dancing “Giselle” and “Sunset”
Sonia Rodriguez and Aleksandar Antonijevic, National Ballet of Canada will perform a pas de deux from “Apollo” and a pas de deux from Jerome Robbins’ “The Dreamer”
Adiarys Almeida and Jospeh Gatti from Cincinnati Ballet will perform the “Black Swan” pas de deux and ” Nothing” by 2005 standout Gala performer, Jamal Story.

Founded in 1997 by Claudia Rudolf Barrett, the non-profit ballet tech ohio performing arts association presents a Season Series of major dance programs and about a dozen community performances each year to provide Greater Cincinnati with a new venue for high quality dance performances featuring pre-professional and professional dancers and a wide variety of artists, dance styles and music. The ballet tech ohio performing arts association mission is to educate, entertain and amaze by providing diverse and innovative performances that have a phenomenal community impact. We have touched over 26,000 audience members with our Season Series and community performances to further educate the public. Our Dance 2 Community Kids community outreach program engaged individuals and sponsor companies to partner with us to introduce over 1000 youth from underserved communities to ballet and the Aronoff Center. Each year, the Leaping for Literacy Project includes a spring production based on beloved children’s stories to entertain families with children of all ages.
