Leading Travel Podcast Releases 1st Anniversary Episode
TravelCommons, the first podcast for the frequent traveler, celebrates its first anniversary with a special retrospective episode.
Hinsdale, IL June 22, 2006 — TravelCommons, the podcast that is more about the journey than the destination, has released its first anniversary podcast episode (http://travelcommons.com/podcast/travelcommons_40.mp3). The anniversary episode collects the “greatest hits” from the past year’s TravelCommons episodes, covering all aspects of the unique lifestyle of the frequent traveler. The podcast starts with a “bathroom medley” — the roll call of all the hotel bathrooms that served as TravelCommons’ recording studios — and covers the full range of travel experiences, including TSA (Transportation Security Administration) pat-downs, unusual activities in airport departure lounges, bad hotel rooms, and ranting cab drivers.
Mark Peacock, the host of TravelCommons, has racked up more than 3 million travel miles over his 20-year business career. A partner for a strategy and operations consulting firm, Mark travels almost every week. As podcasting began to develop momentum in the spring of 2005, Mark drew on his past lives as a radio broadcaster and newspaper columnist to jump into this new communications medium. “I’ve kept a travel journal ever since I started traveling and was looking for a way to share my travel experiences with others,” Mark said. “I was about to start a travel blog when I discovered podcasts. I got excited by the idea of telling my stories to others, not just writing them down.”
TravelCommons was one of the original travel podcasts that Apple included in its iTunes Music Store when it began supporting podcasting last year. TravelCommons quickly developed a global following. Today, it has an international audience exchanging travel stories from around the globe providing what Mark calls “the voice of the traveler”.
TravelCommons can be downloaded free from http://travelcommons.com or through iTunes.
