Renaissance Player Publishes First Comic Book
Renaissance Player has published the first in a series of satirical comic books directed an American political personalities and Pop Icons. The first comic book is called ‘The Shrub Chronicles.’ Titles on the drawing board include ‘Dr Shill,’ ‘The View from the Ivory Tower,’ and ‘Ocre.’
Castro Valley, CA March 31,2006 — Renaissance Player announces the publication of its first comic book, “The Shrub Chronicles.” It is the first in a series of satirical looks into American political personalities and Pop icons. Future volumes will include “Dr. Shill’s Pop Psychology,” “The View from the Ivory Tower” and “Ocre at Large.”
There are two additional genres that Renaissance Player will be publishing in. One identified as Comic Noir, by Gene Poschman, the owner; is emulating the Film Noir tradition of entertainment. The stories will follow in the style of Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, and Mickey Spillane. The second genre will marry the graphic novel with prose in the form of ancient myths and legends to provide a unique presentation of story telling. Distribution will be in both traditional paper back form and in electronic form.
Expanding into the “Incidental Computer Game” market, Renaissance Player is developing its first game. It will consist of a series of related mysteries that will provide puzzles in a story telling venue. There is a randomizing element within the game that will provide alternate outcomes for each mystery thereby providing a unique experience each time the game is played.
Renaissance Player will also be offering peripheral paraphernalia in the form of t-shirts, posters, and related collectible products.
