— Philadelphia Rap Artist and former Cash Money Millionaire, “Gillie Da Kid” just agreed to be the new face of the Rod Elam Collection. Gillie will be the first rapper showcased in the national “Fix your Fu@k!n Face” Ad campaign, which is scheduled to launch in publications such as King, XXL, Smooth, and Urb1 in late August. The campaign will feature various hip- hop artists, and entertainment heavies wearing designer outerwear by Rod “Rowdy” Elam. The 2005 debut line hit retail racks across the U.S, and gained entrance into celebrity closets, print magazines, and on one of America’s favorite entertainment shows, BET’s 106 & Park.
This seasons outerwear picks are ripe with diversity. The new collection uniquely blends fall 06’ fashion trends with high quality leather. The line entails leather hoodies, puffy vests lined with fur, and wool jackets adorned with argyle leather accents. Elam’s “classic” line with the embossed logo and signature “R” will return this fall with a vengeance. Retailer’s purchase orders have spiked 30% higher than last season’s, due to a much anticipated successful season.
Marketing has reported that Gillie was one of the first artists selected to appear in the print campaign because of his true connection with the Philadelphia swagger, and his ability to communicate the brand image. The company is also looking at other artists such as Busta Rhymes, Paul Wall, & J-Mills.
Mr. Elam’s success is not a hoax. High quality leather never goes out of style. The company will remain true to that notion as they continue to manufacture and design high-end leather outerwear for urban males.
The Rod Elam Collection is a national urban apparel company based out of Philadelphia, PA. The collection fortuitously left the trunk of the designers SUV in 2004, and was in stores across the country in 2005. Since then the line has expanded into over 30 markets. Retail items can be found in major cities such as, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, & Atlanta. For more information on the collection, please visit www.rodelamcollection.com
