Los Angeles, CA May 28, 2006 — Nelson Madison Films announces the release of SHIFTED by Michael Madison. This special edition DVD contains a revealing commentary about the filmmaker’s experiences shooting this DIY, ultra-low budget indie film.
SHIFTED is a compelling crime drama about a young, arrogant mortgage banker stranded in Los Angeles when the SEC shuts down his company after discovering some nefarious dealings. Losing everything, including his trophy girlfriend, played by Jill Wagner (the “Mercury Girl” and soon-to-be action star of the new Spike TV series, BLADE), David, now homeless, seeks shelter in a storage space rather than on the dangerous and grimy streets of Los Angeles. Here, he befriends some unusual characters, played by Jeris Lee Poindexter (Akeela and the Bee) and Frankie Ray, who teach him how to survive on the streets. Hunted by his criminal ex-employers, played by character actors Rhino Michaels and Chic Daniel, who are desperately trying to recover information that David does not even know he has, David’s life spirals downward. Seeking a new start, he winds up at the Midnight Mission on Skid row, where a glimmer of hope shines — till the bad guys show up.
SHIFTED carries a $14.95 SRP and is available direct from Amazon.com and other online retailers. Check for stores in your area at www.nelsonmadisonfilms.com
Nelson Madison Films is a small indie production company. Partners Michael Madison and Linda Nelson developed the script in-house and shot this film in many well-known Los Angeles locations, like Hollywood Boulevard, White Lotus Restaurant, and two LA landmarks that have recently been shut down – Tail O’ The Pup restaurant and The Midnight Mission on Skid Row (recently relocated to a new location).
Michael Madison directed and edited the film, while producer Linda Nelson served as director of photography. Michael Madison also stars in the film and undergoes a startling transformation in appearance during the course of the film.
