East Hampton, NY — The Second Annual Hamptons Wine & Food Festival will take place on Friday, August 11 through Sunday, August 13 at Ross School in East Hampton and other special event locations. The best local ingredients will also be added to the mix this year as the festival celebrates the rich agricultural heritage of the Hamptons with locally grown products from several East End farms and Long Island winemakers.
Local talent has been tapped as well for a spirited Hamptons Chef & Bartender Competition. Last year’s winner, Colette Connor of Inn Spot On the Bay, won a trip for two to Tahiti. To stir things up a bit for this year’s competition, the Hamptons Chefs will be joined this year by their favorite bartenders to create thematic drinks to complement the food. Spectacular Grand Tastings will be held both days, featuring numerous local and international wines and a full menu of signature dishes from top Hamptons restaurants. A festive weekend of VIP parties includes a Friday night sunset celebration of Tapas and Tinis at an oceanfront estate, a Saturday night party tent with live music and a Sparkling Summer Brunch.
Donations from a unique charity auction will be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation. Well-known celebrities will design one-of-a-kind chef jackets to be displayed and bid upon throughout the event. In addition, other donated items to the Festival’s Silent Auction will help raise funds for the school’s Steven J. Ross Scholarship Fund.
The picturesque Ross School serves as the festival’s new setting. The Festival will stage events throughout the school’s magnificent Center For Well Being building. The singular beauty of its East Hampton location, combined with its cutting-edge contemporary architecture and international artwork, make the school campus an idyllic festival setting.
Current sponsors include presenting sponsor The New York Times, American Express, Toshiba, Bedell Cellars, Level Vodka, Viking Range, Fiji Water, Partida Tequila, Banfi Vintners, Wolffer Estate Vineyard, Paumanok Vineyards, Land Rover and Stella Artois.
Tickets range from $50 for a tasting seminar, to $125 for either a full day (4) seminar pass or one of the weekend’s Grand Tastings to $500 pp for the entire weekend of festivities at Ross School. A limited number of VIP Platinum passes will be available, which includes the Sparkling Summer Brunch. Complete event information and online ticket purchases will be available on June 26, 2006 at the festival’s Web site, www.hamptonswineandfood.com, or by phone at 631-613-3110.
