The Myth Buster — Latinas Do Speak Up!
E. D. Santos has published a follow-up to her first novel, “On the Road, Too,” with the much-anticipated “Care and Feeding of the Beast,” chronicling the life of protagonist Connie Cebolla. From Texas, Connie finds herself in the middle of the southern California hippie movement of the 1960’s, and discovers that — at last — she fits in.
San Antonio, TX — E. D. Santos’ new novel, “Care and Feeding of the Beast,” is due for release at the end of September 2006. This is the second novel for Santos, following the first novel, “On the Road, Too,” as well as a collection of short stories compiled together in “Mesquite Sighs,” which was published with the help of a grant from the City of San Antonio Arts and Cultural Affairs, winning the prestigious Award for Literature. Other accolades include Second Round Reading for her screenplay “The Lesser Evil” at the Austin Heart of Film Festival and a Writer’s Pen Award from the online publication Boundaries for her story “Street Vignette,” dealing with the homeless.
Santos currently freelances for various publications, both print and online, and is available for radio and TV interviews regarding her books. She also has a website, http://www.bookcantina.com, for which she doubles as her more “activist chata” alter ego, Tejana Juana. Not only are the books under Santos’ own name available here, but also Tejana Juana’s collection of life’s humorous observations can be downloaded, under the title “The Adventures of Juana in Bubba-Land.”
The website can be found with, among other key words, the logo link “Free Beer.”
