Todd Cardin Brings Pictures of Lily to New York
Playwright Cardin takes ETC drama off Broadway.
— Todd Cardin announced today that his critically acclaimed play “Pictures of Lily” www.picsoflily.com will be performed off Broadway in New York during summer of 2007. Cardin has worked out the details of a location but has not decided on a cast. Todd is not sure who will be starring in this version because some of the cast has aged. The the availability of the original cast, with the show being performed in New York. Cardin also has quite a bit on his plate, preparing to star as Gary Busey in 1MB (http://www.prweb.com/releases/2006/5/prweb383618.htm), his one man show, headlining a stand up comedy tour and producing 1WG … Melissa Gilbert www.1wgtheplay.com, an Unauthorized Play in Chicago. In addition Cardin is writing a movie, recording an album with Nice Apartment Bob and producing his next play Destination Summer.
“Pictures of Lily” www.picsoflily.com is the story of a 10 year old boy, Danny, growing up in the 80’s. His world revolves around two things; MTV and his mom, Lily. When his mother dies, his world is turned upside down. Twenty-five years later, we see Danny as an adult still dealing with his mother’s death, his aging father, Jack, his wife Linda, and daughter Grace. The play follows Danny from the 80’s to today, back to the 80’s and back again.
Todd Cardin has a special place in his heart for the tear jerking play. “Prior to Lily, I have always written goofy musical comedies that hadn’t been well received by the critics. After Lily, they act like I’m a genius. Now they label anything I do as brilliant no matter how silly it is.” Cardin feels that the New York audience will embrace the show.
