Tre9 is Nominated for an Urban Gospel Industry Award
The Urban Gospel Alliance (UGA) is a Gospel music industry organization with a focus on the urban market. It is a forum and platform for all facets of urban gospel music–contemporary gospel, holy hip hop, inspirational, gospel jazz, neo-soul, and reggae. Realizing that independent labels and artists have more limitations than major labels and a greater necessity for a forum of this nature, the UGA focuses more on independents.
May 20, 2006 — Tre9 is nominated for an Urban Gospel Industry Award.
Joining with the Edwin & Walter Hawkins Music & Arts Love Fellowship Conference for a 2nd year, UGA will succeed in opening up a new platform for Urban Gospel artists June 25 – July 1, 2006 in Houston, TX. The weeklong gospel music celebration will include Urban Gospel Summits, an Urban Gospel Showcase, and the 3rd Annual Urban Gospel Industry Awards on June 28th, 2006. The UGI awards show will follow the 5th annual Texas Holy Hip Hop Achievement Awards show which takes place four days earlier on June 24th.
With over thirty awards being presented at UGIA, one of those awards could end up in the hands of Houston’s own awards show founder Bobby Herring aka Tre9. This year the HHH mogul has been nominated for the prestigious “Founder Award” along with others such as Kirk Franklin, John Wells (Cross Movement), and Christopher “Play” Martin. “I am extremely honored to be placed in a category amongst such great leaders and creative talent. Although our ultimate recognition for our works will be presented by our heavely father one day, it means so much to be encouraged by your peers through events such as this. I am overwhelmed and estatic about this year’s UGI Awards,” stated Tre9.
Bobby “Tre9″ Herring has certainly made his mark as Much Luvv’s CEO, but nationally he is recognized as one of the founders of the Holy Hip Hop movement in Houston. Dating back to 1997, Tre9 hs been involved in establishing an infrastructure in Houston, the 4th largest city in the nation. Beginning with a collabrative effort with SGR Music Group on the formation of the IGRA (Independent Gospel Rap Alliance), then starting the HHHHA (Houston Holy Hip Hop Alliance), and presently running the THHHAA (Texas Holy Hip Hop Achievement Awards), Tre has been actively taking the music genre to the next level. He has created a market in Houston and given artists a major venue to display their talent before consumers. His mission to advance the HHH movement is one that involves providing the resources and support artists need through local city alliances, and then giving it the “glamorization” it needs through a national awards show, which he plans on taking the Achievement Awards to within seven years. “For a number of years Tre 9 has worked to bring execlence to holy hip hop as evidenced by the manner of his Texas Holy Hip Hop Achievement Awards. His efforts are an inspiration to many in the industry,” says Curtis Jeremy, founder of the UGA.
Tre has been moving and shaking up the music industry through his record label Much Luvv Records for a while now. With over 7 titles released and four on the way in 2006, he has proven himself to be a legit entity that has lasted in an industry where consumers are sometimes hard to find and independent labels come and go. He is an artist with two albums out and one called “The Farmer” on the way. He also oversees a recording studio in Houston where he works with artists such as Mike Jones, Lil Keke, Big Mike, Spice 1, George Clinton, Kurt Carr and Tremaine Hawkins. Tre is definitely not going away any time soon, and it will be interesting to see what he will do next.
In 2006, the Urban Gospel Industry Awards welcomes everyone to attend this special event. For more information log onto http://www.urbangospelalliance.com/ugia06.html.
