Twice The Magic; Best Documentary & Soundtrack Award at the L.A. Indies Awards for MAGIC(S)
MAGIC(S), has received two prizes from the L.A. Indies, an award show honoring the best of independent film. As a feature documentary, MAGIC(S) received the BEST DOCUMENTARY award while Smokey Miles was handed a unanimous choice SOUNDTRACK AWARD for his original score at last evening’s event.
Additionally, during the writing of this press release, it has been announced that MAGIC(S) has been programmed for the prestigious 2006 RHODE ISLAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, MAGIC(S) is honored to be a part of one of this nation’s top 12 festivals.
— Synopsis: In a subject-driven account of “Tikkun Olam” (to heal the world), MAGIC(S) explores the collaboration between a medical magician and his international audience during a time of immense social and political uncertainty in Israel. A story often told by Israel’s youngest; MAGIC(S) asks why we fight and what can be done to prevent future violent clashes. It further tells the story of contemporary life via this remarkable entertainer as he rehabilitates Palestinian and Jewish children hospitalized due to sickness and injury using little more than a smile, a wave of his magic wand and a handful of mesmerizing multilingual shenanigans.
MAGIC(S)’ slogan comes directly from one of Magic Michael’s main dictums, “Children smile the same way all over the world”.
