Worldsgreatestnovel.com is Taking the Writing Community by Storm
I have just had an interview with Richard Shepherd (worldsgreatestnovel.com) and his idea is taking the writing community by storm. The project has been running for just 11 days and already they have had 71 entries submitted.
August 2, 2006 — Richard Shepherd is the mastermind behind the idea www.worldsgreatestnovel.com. His website is currently being advertised on several top writing forums, and the news also featured on the homepage of several other writing websites.
The project is about creating a novel from different writers, each contributing 500 words to the novel. The work is selected to go onto a shortlist and the forum users can then vote on which work they would like to be included into the actual novel.
Richard Shepherd says, “This project is not about money, or being finished in a few months. I would rather wait 8-9 months to receive the correct work for the next part than put anything into the slot”
“I have decided to put a forum on the site that users can browse, comment and vote on the best work.”
“This helps gauge the public’s opinion towards the work and will not just be our opinion.”
“To make this project work, we need to create as much publicity as possible, to make as many people aware of the project. If we can do this then we stand a great chance of success.”
“I have been speaking reguarly with Evan White (PR official, credited with www.oneredpaperclip.com media frenzy)and we are conceiving a plan of strategy to take the project forward.”
www.worldsgreatestnovel.com is currently looking for works to be included on the shortlist for the opening passage of the novel. Currently they have selected 6 works from 71 that have been submitted.
